Trademark Usage Policy

The trademark symbol (™) must be used with the first instance that one of the following Marks appears in the text of any publication (and/or any article/letter/signage etc.): “AIBS,” “Certified Practice-Based Business  Professional”, and “CSPBST.” If the first use is in the headline, the trademark symbol may appear with the first use in the body text instead.

A trademark must be used as an adjective with the appropriate trademark symbol. It cannot be used in the plural or possessive (as in followed by “s,” “‘s,” or “s’”). 

The registration mark (®) must be used with all instances that one of the following Marks appears in the text of any publication (and/or any article/letter/signage etc.): “BPBOK” , “Business Professional Body of Knowledge, ” and “CPBP”. If the first use is in the headline, the registration mark may be omitted.

These registered marks must be treated as an adjective and must not be used in the plural or possessive (as in followed by “s,” “‘s,” or “s’”), As it is with all publications, both “BPBOK” and “Business Professional Body of Knowledge” should always be written in italics.
In addition to the requirements set forth above, you must comply with the following requirements and guidelines when using our Marks:


1. Give public notice that our Marks are owned by AIBS. It is a requirement that you always provide the following notice within each copy of the communication, document, packaging or other material referencing any of the Marks:

AIBS, the AIBS logo, the AIBS chapter logo, the AIBS Founding Sponsor logo, the AIBS Gold Sponsor logo, the AIBS Silver Sponsor logo, the AIBS Bronze Sponsor logo, Certified Business Professional, CSPBST, the CSPBST logo and the AIBS member logo are trademarks owned by the African Institute of Business Simulations.


If a text does not contain all of the above trademarks, list only the trademark used.

For example:

AIBS  is a trademark owned by African  Institute of Business Simulations.


Exception: If a text is using Certified Business Analysis Professional in conjunction with CBP®, the trademark symbol (™) does not need to be placed after the phrase.

For example:

All references must be a business manager, a client (internal or external), or Certified Business Professional (CBP®).


2. If using CBP® or the CBP® logo certification Marks, you must give the following notice:

CBP® and the CBP® logo are certification marks owned by African Institute of Business Simulations.

If a text does not contain all of the above certification marks, list only the certification Mark used. For example:
CBP® is a certification mark owned by African Institute of Business Simulations.


3. If using the Business Professional  Body of Knowledge® or BPBOK® registered trademarks, you must give the following notice:

BPBOK® and Business Professional Body of Knowledge® are registered trademarks owned by African  Institute of Business Simulations.

If a text does not contain all of the above registered trademarks, list only the registered copyright Mark used.

For example:

BPBOK® is a registered trademark owned by African Institute of Business Simulations.


4. When a third party (not the AIBS) is producing materials that use any of the following trademarks, the attribution statement should read:

AIBS, the AIBS logo, the AIBS chapter logo, the AIBS Founding Sponsor logo, the AIBS Gold Sponsor logo, the AIBS Silver Sponsor logo, CSPBST, the CSPBST logo and the AIBS member logo are trademarks owned by African Institute of Business Simulations. These trademarks are used with the express permission of African Institute of Business Simulations.


If a text does not contain all of the above trademarked phrases, the trademarks should be noted individually.

For example:

AIBS is a trademark owned by African Institute of Business Simulations. This trademark is used with express permission of African Institute of Business Simulations.


5. The use of the CBP® Marks need to be attributed, but that does not provide an individual or organization a CBP® designation.

When a third party, including a CBP® holder, is producing materials that use any of the CBP® certification marks, the attribution statement should read:

CBP® and the CBP® logo are certification marks owned by African Institute of Business Simulations. These certification marks are used with the express permission of African Institute of Business Simulations.


6. Maintain the integrity of our Marks.

Your use of our Marks must not disparage AIBS, our Marks, or our products or services, and you must not mislead anyone as to your own or your organization’s affiliation with AIBS or AIBS’s sponsorship or endorsement of you, your company, and/or your products or services.


7. Apply the trademark notice symbol correctly.

Use the symbol “TM” when referring to the Marks (e.g., AIBS™) and place it to the right of the Mark (and superscript).

You must use this symbol and apply the symbol in every copy of the communication, document, packaging, or other material in which our Mark appears, regardless of the medium.*


Exception: If a text is using Certified Business  Professional in conjunction with CBP®, the trademark symbol (™) does not need to be  placed after the phrase.

For example:

All references must be a business manager, a client (internal or external), or Certified Business Professional (CBP®).


8. Always display the Marks correctly.

The Marks must not be altered or modified in any way. The Marks must not deviate from the form shown in this Policy.


9. Keep AIBS’s Marks separate and distinct.

Our Marks must be used separately from other logos, trademarks, service Marks, registered copyright Marks and names.


To ensure that our Marks continue to fulfill their purpose of distinctively identifying our organization and its products and services, you may not:

(1) develop, adopt, use, or register any name, logo, trademark, symbol, phrase, brand, domain name, or other business, product or service identifier that could be confused with any of our Marks


(2) use any of our Marks as part of your business name, trade name, corporate name, domain name, URL, or e-mail address, or to identify your own products or services.

We typically are unable to respond to specific requests for guidance pertaining to use of our Marks. If you are not certain that your intended use of any of our Marks complies with this policy, please consult your legal counsel.

Any organization either knowingly or unknowingly failing to follow these guidelines may be subject to prosecution to the fullest extent of the law by AIBS. AIBS reserves the right to take legal action should any AIBS mark be used inappropriately and not in accordance with this policy.

Note:
Spell out “Business Professional Body of Knowledge,” “Certified Business  Professional,” “Certified Simulations-enabled Practice-based Business Skills Trainer” and “African  Institute of Business Simulations” the first instance that one of them appears in any publication (and/or any article/letter/signage etc).

The first instance of the following should be followed by its acronym in parentheses:

  • African Institute of Business Simulations(AIBS™)
  • Certified  Business  ProfessionalTM (CBP®)
  • Certified Simulations-enabled Practice-based Business Skills Trainer(CSPBST™)
  • Business Professional  Body of Knowledge® (BPBOK®)

    Every other instance of the following should be:
  • AIBS
  • CBP®
  • CSPBST
  • BPBOK®
