SmartBizSim Basic
Our SmartBizSim Basic or SBS Basic is our first level Business Simulation Game or Course.
As a student (Undergraduate, Graduate or Professional Manager) of our SBS Basic, you will be required (singly or as part of a team) to run a virtual tech company that is ailing. You will battle against market forces and compete against five other companies for market leadership.
Your tech company operates in an industry with two market segments.
Your company was selling two products to these segments when you became the new management. If you choose, you can introduce up to three (3) more products bringing your total product offerings to this industry to five (5).
You will have eight (8) simulated (or virtual reality) years to turn this company around and make your point emphatically as a winning manager / entrepreneur or as an also-ran. Bear in mind, however, that your five (5) other competitors are not just in the industry to play; they fiercely want to win too.
To win, you must be damn good at thinking out a great business strategy and even better at executing that strategy with excellent tactics in R&D, Marketing, Production/Operation, HR, Finance and Quality Process Management.
Our SBS Basic is what you need if you are:
- A tertiary school undergraduate looking for practical business experience to give you a selection edge at job interviews after school.
- A student whose school requires you to take a course in entrepreneurship which you will want to back up with practical business experience.
- An experienced executive (who did not study a business course at school) but now needs fast track business skills for career advancement.
- An experienced business executive who needs to fast track strategy development and execution skills for career advancement.
- A tertiary school lecturer who needs an unsurpassed tool to teach business skills and entrepreneurship.
- An NGO focusing on entrepreneurial skills for youths and SMEs.
Our SBS Basic has two (2) versions:
SBS DIY
In SBS Do-it-Yourself, you run the company as an individual, doing everything a team would have to do. You handle R&D, Marketing, Production/Operations, HR, Finance, etc, all by yourself.
You also process the results of your yearly business decisions through the eight (8) simulated years.
Your competitors will be five (5) computer generated companies. You need to beat them to win, but they will give you the run for your money because they also want to win.
SBS Basic DIY students or course users receive online coaching and support.
Because SBS Basic DIY is web and computer-based;
- The student can go as slowly or as quickly as appropriate.
- The student can repeat part of the simulation as frequently as desired to hone or master skills.
- The student can continue learning anywhere, anytime.
- SBS Basic DIY is affordable and ideal for people who cannot attend a classroom course.

SBS Basic Instructor-led
SBS Basic IL is the classroom version where you are part of a 3-5 days course. The class is formed into teams who compete head –to-head for business leadership in the simulated industry.
An experienced business coach acts as training facilitator processing team business decisions, posting results and debriefing them for business lessons learnt throughout the course.
SmartBizSim® Advanced Course
In the SBS Advanced Course, the industry and market conditions you face are more complex.
Your task will be to turn around the poor fortunes of an ailing electronic sensor company during your tenure of eight(8) simulated years.
Your industry has 5 other fiercely competitive companies all vying against you for market leadership.
The industry has five(5) segments: traditional, low end, high end, performance and size. Your company currently has a portfolio of five(5) products and you may decide that it makes business sense to increase it to a maximum of 8 products by inventing 3 new products using your R&D business process.
Your business performance will be evaluated using a Balanced Scorecard, an analysis technique that assesses your results across four areas: financial, internal business process, customer and learning & growth.
The SBS advanced Course also has two versions:
- SBS Advanced Instructor-led
The SBS Advanced Course is suitable for:
- Business Professionals at all levels
- Business Schools’ lecturers and professors who want to sharpen their business acumen to improve the quality of their teaching.
- IT and other professionals who need strategic and business skills to advance in their careers.
- Experienced SME business owners

BizSim XM
After taking the SmartBizSim Basic Course or SmartBizSim Advanced Course, it is time to take the related BizSim XM
In BizSim XM, you work as an individual, which means all success will be attributed to you. This increases your chance to demonstrate your strategic vision, tactical competence and business acumen
You will be required to run your company over four(4) simulated years. You will answer five sets of Board Queries. For example, you may be asked to calculate the effect additional borrowing will have on your financial ratios.
Your business performance will be evaluated using a Balanced Scorecard, an analysis technique that assesses your results across four areas: financial, internal business process, customer and learning and growth.
BizSim XM Basic or Advanced must be taken by AIBS students pursuing certification goals.
